Suggestions please!

So at work I sit at a computer all day and its kinda boring, but I can listed to Cd's and such so I would like to listen to some books on CD to help pass the time. I of course, as many of you have already guessed, am listening to harry potter right now ha! But I want to read/listen to something new. So give me some ideas. Oh and if anyone suggests those dumb twilight books I will remove you from my friend list... I am not kidding :) So the moral of the story is give me book ideas but no twilight. :)

I am reading and loving the Hitchhikers series. Douglas Adams is very off the wall, that is what makes it so entertaining. it's very random. I have read so far "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy", "Restaurant at the End of the Universe", "Life the Universe and Everything". I'm working on "So Long and Thanks for all the Fish" and will finish with "Mostly Harmless" and "Young Zaphod Plays it Safe".

I know of so many good books. My most favorite book is "The Scarlet Pimpernel." I have an audio version if you would like to borrow it. Other books I would suggest are "The Secret Life of Bees" "Rebecca" and "Memoirs of a Geisha." These are girly books so these suggestions are for Danelle, Dan's suggestions were for Alex.

All I can say is that you really should give the Twilight books a chance...but don't delete me from your friend list...Harry Potter books are still A LOT better but the Twilight books actually are pretty good...so don't boycott them yet. Also, you could listen to Hoot by Carl Hiassen- it is WAY funny- it is a kid book but I loved it. And I'd also suggest listening to any of the Mitch Albom books. I hope we can still be friends because I enjoyed Twilight!

Yeah, I agree with you about the twilight series! I read the first book and would read no further!!! Anyway the only books I have listend to on Cd are the Narnia series, but I think you can get lots of great books on CD from deseret book, like the work and the glory series or the Children of Promise. Both are GREAT!

A series that I have really enjoyed is "The Great and Terrible" by Chris Stewart. It is FANTASTIC! The first one is called "The Brothers" and is the authors adaptation of the war in heaven. It really makes you think about the choices we all made to come here and follow Christ. The following books in the series take place on earth with the same characters in the last days. The last one just came out at Deseret Book. Great Read!! (or listen ha ha)

You should get on www.goodreads.com You can read reviews of any book imaginable, and get updates from your friends on what they are reading. I haven't read anything other than parenting books for a long time, but I get updates on my email on what my friends are reading, and that's been fun, so it might be worth a try. Good luck!

I'm reading a series right now...the first book is called Poison Study...I can't remember what the other ones are but I think they are Fire Study & Magic Study. Maria Snyder (sp?) is the author.
I really like them, I have no idea if you can get them on CD..but they are pretty cool!

You can see all the stuff I like at my goodreads site

Also, Becky is listening to a book on tape she got at the library called "Beast" which is another telling of the beauty and the beast classic.

Oh man I have the best idea for you. I just read this really creative book that was super interesting. I forgot exactly what is was called but it had this supposed hot vampire in it and he falls in love with this super common girl. It was set in Washington and it's all about their forbidden love and it's super suspenseful and a quick read. I think it's called Moonlight or Sunset.....I don't know just look for a book about a vampire.

If you want a good classic love story that is not about a vampire and teenager girl making out all the time, READ Jane Eyre. One of the best book I have ever picked up. Warning there is a Edward in this book, but trust me you will love it.
